2 Danbury Arts Organizations Receive $37K+ Grants from Department of Economic & Community Development
The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut and the Charles Ives Center received the grants for the 2017 fiscal year.
Danbury, CT — The Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA) announced the recipients of its Fiscal Year of 2017.
A total of 129 grants, including a grant for Danbury-based arts organization, totaling $1,532,598.
Danbury-based Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut received one of six grants to six Regional Service Organizations grants totaling $206,119. The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut's grant totaled $30,855.

The Connecticut Office of the Arts awarded 80 Supporting Arts in Place grants in the amount of $515,000, including the Charles Ives Center for the Arts who was awarded $7,065. The Supporting Arts in Place program awards matching grants to eligible arts organizations and municipal arts offices to "strengthen the state's nonprofit arts industry," according to the COA.
In New Milford, the Creative Arts Center of New Milford, Inc. was awarded $4,375 as part of the Supporting Arts in Place grant.

In Weston, Music on the Hill, Inc. was awarded $3,730.
Two Ridgefield arts organizations also received the Supporting Arts in Place grant. Ridgefield Chorale was given $3,581 and Ridgefield Playhouse was granted $18,630.
Resonator Films, LLC of Easton received $16,000 for a free networking event which includes an exhibition of multimedia arts featuring an entirely Connecticut lineup of filmmakers, musicians, artists and small businesses.
Resonator Films' grant was from the Public Art Community (PAC) Projects program which provides funding up to $20,000 for public art projects that "engage in quality partnerships and consider community need(s) and opportunity(ies)."
