Update: Police ID 31-Year-Old Shooting Victim as Teacher, Mom of 4
Danbury police have identified the woman shot and killed and are asking anyone with information to call the department.
Update: Det. Lt. Christian A. Carroccio of the Danbury Police Department said the victim from 26 South Street shooting has been identified as Sherrie Blount, age 31, of Danbury. A GoFundMe page states that she leaves behind 4 small children from ages 10 months to 8 years old. The family wrote:
"This is a devastating time for the entire family. We lost a beautiful soul that was loved by so many. Words cannot describe the pain that this family is feeling. During this time the family is asking for donations to help support these children and for funeral expenses. Anything that can be contributed is greatly appreciated. God bless these beautiful children. Please share."
Police the investigation is ongoing. At this time we have no information that would lead us to believe there is a danger to the public. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Danbury Police Department TIPS Line at 203-790-8477.

DANBURY, CT — Det. Lt. Christian A. Carroccio of the Danbury Police Department said that on October 8, 2106 at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Danbury Police Department responded to a residence on South Street in Danbury for a reported "Shots Fired" complaint.
Upon arrival, officers found a 31-year-old woman with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The name of the victim is being withheld, pending family notification.
