4 Dogs Rescued From Danbury Fire That Displaced 4 People: Officials

First responders to the Birch Street blaze were met by heavy smoke conditions.

DANBURY, CT — Firefighters rescued several dogs from a house fire in Danbury Thursday morning.

The Danbury Fire Department was notified of the blaze at 15 Birch Street around 11:30 a.m.

First responders were met by heavy smoke conditions, but the fire was mostly out, according to DFD spokesperson Erin Henry.

Four dogs requiring medical care were rescued by the firefighters, and taken away for evaluation.

Four human residents were also displaced, Henry said. The City's Office of Emergency Management was on scene coordinating relief efforts for the displaced occupants with the assistance of the American Red Cross.
