Boughton Undergoes Brain Surgery
The Danbury mayor and likely gubernatorial candidate underwent a delicate brain surgery Tuesday.

DANBURY, CT — Mayor Mark Boughton's medical team was "very pleased" with the results of a surgery to remove an epidermoid cyst from the eight-term mayor's brain Tuesday. The Team Boughton twitter account announced Tuesday the mayor was doing well and was out of surgery.

Boughton, a likely candidate for the Republican gubernatorial nomination in 2018, said in a statement Monday that he planned to be back serving the city within a couple of weeks.
"Thank you all so much for the outpouring of support and encouragement," said Boughton in a statement."Together, we will rise to any occasion that is put in front ofus and continue fighting for the City of Danbury and Connecticut's Comeback."

According to a report from the News Times, the tumor removed from Boughton's brain was the size of a lemon. The epidermoid cyst is rarely cancerous, according to the report.
