Danbury A 'Tree City' 23rd Time

DANBURY AWARDED “TREE CITY USA” FOR 23rd CONSECUTIVE YEAR
Mayor Mark Boughton is pleased to announce that the City of Danbury has once again been named as a Tree City USA. Danbury was chosen due to its comprehensive community forestry program, dedicated Forestry Division, tree care ordinances and Arbor Day observation.
In honor of Earth Day and Arbor Day, various community organizations, including the Danbury Garden Club, held tree plantings over the weekend at Kenosia Park and Rogers Park.

Mayor Boughton said, “Danbury’s commitment to preserving and maintaining our community’s natural beauty is important, and helps make Danbury a great place to live and visit. I applaud the hard work of our Forestry Division whose dedication to maintaining and preserving our many trees, has made this honor possible.”
The National Arbor Day Society awards various cities nationwide with this honor and has granted Danbury with the honor for the 21st consecutive year. Danbury has met the four standards to become a Tree City USA community which include:

The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation in collaboration with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.
