Danbury Man Charged With Manslaughter In Fatal Crash: State Police

BREAKING: A former Danbury Police officer was also arrested in connection with the crash.

DANBURY, CT —The driver in a fatal crash in December of 2016 was arrested and charged with manslaughter Thursday. Police say Ricardo S. Andre, 33, of Danbury was taken into custody in connection with the death of Tiffany Fitzgerald, who was ejected from the Ford Explorer and suffered fatal injuries.

Police said the stolen vehicle driven by Andre headed south bound on Mountainville Road where it then went off the road in the area of 13 Mountainville Road, rolling over. Police said both the driver and passenger suffered serious injuries. Andre extricated himself from the vehicle but was later transported to Danbury Hospital along with Fitzgerald.

Jamie Hodge, a former Danbury police officer, was also arrested in connection with the crash after police say he followed Andre in an unmarked vehicle at very high speeds before the crash. He was arrested ona charge of reckless driving on Aug. 4.

Andre was charged with operation with a suspended/revoked license, operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol, manslaughter in the first degree and reckless endangerment. He was held on a $750,000 bond and was due in court Thursday.
