
Danbury Police searched for a Plainfield, NJ, man Tuesday before 7 a.m., who was wanted for murder, and found him at 72 Liberty St.
Acting Union County New Jersey Prosecutor Grace H. Park reported Mata was wanted and charged in the stabbing death of Ricardo Castro. Castro, 36, was stabbed June 29 in the area of 709 West Front St. in Plainfield. Park said the Union County Homicide Task Force tracked Mata to Danbury, where Danbury Police charged him Tuesday.
Danbury Police said Mata, 38, was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with extradition, and is being held on a $1 million bond. After his return to New Jersey, Mata's bond was raised to $2 million.
Danbury Police said no further information is available about the New Jersey murder charge.
