Danbury Police Charge Two in Harambee Center Rape

Two Danbury men were charged Tuesday with taking a woman to the Harambee Center Saturday, breaking into the center, and raping her there.

Danbury Police said a woman separated from her friends Saturday ran into two men who offered to help her, but instead raped her.

The Special Victims Unit of the Danbury Police Department investigated the incident, and based on the victim's descriptions, arrest warrants were issued  Tuesday for Dylan Kennedy, 20, and Jalenn Jackson, 18. Both were located walking in the area of 35 Main St. by Officer Dave Williams and taken into custody. No details were available Tuesday night about the men.

Jackson was charged with four counts of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of criminal liability for acts of another, one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree sexual assault, one count of third-degree burglary, one count of sixth-degree larceny and one count of first-degree unlawful restraint.

Kennedy was charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault, four counts of criminal liability for acts of another, one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree sexual assault, one count of third-degree burglary, and one count of first-degree unlawful restraint.

Police said the victim, an 18-year-old female, reported that she had been separated from a group of people she was with when she was approached by two men offering her assistance.  The victim, not being familiar with the area, was brought to a location where both men sexually assaulted her.  The victim was able to provide detailed descriptions of the location and suspects. This allowed officers to locate and identify Jackson and Kennedy. During the investigation, Police figured out the attack took place at the the Harambee Center, 54 West St.

The Harambee Center is an after-school program for Danbury children.
