Danbury Police Department Invites Public Comment on State Accreditation Efforts

As part of the Danbury Police Department's on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments.

Danbury, CT — A team of assessors from the Police Officers Standards and Training Council will examine the Danbury Police Department’s policies and procedures for state accreditation standards on July 11, 2016 and public comment is welcome, Lt. Christian Carroccio said.

Verification that the Danbury Police Department meets the POST Council’s accreditation standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation—a highly regarded recognition of law enforcement professional excellence, police said.

The assessors will review written materials, interview individuals, and visit offices and other places where compliance can be witnessed. Accreditation is valid for four years, during which time the agency must submit annual reports attesting continued compliance with those standards, under which they were initially accredited or re-accredited.
