Danbury police are investigating minor window damage at Republican headquarters
DANBURY, CT — Police are investigating minor damage to a front window at 5 West St., the building currently serving as Republican headquarters, according to the Danbury Police Department.
Investigators said the window was struck by a small rock or similar object sometime over the weekend, causing a vine-like crack in the glass. The damage was discovered before Monday morning.
Officers canvassed the area but found no witnesses and no additional damage, police said on social media.

Officials also clarified that, contrary to reports circulating online, there is no evidence that the building was shot at or that a firearm was used.
"This type of reckless rhetoric is meant to frighten residents and turn neighbors against one another. Danbury deserves better than fear-mongering designed to inflame tensions or score political points. We all have a responsibility to lower the temperature and focus on the truth," Mayor Roberto Alves said in a statement released Wednesday. "As Mayor, I will always call for truth, calm, and responsibility, especially when emotions are high. The safety of our residents is my highest priority. I remain in close contact with the Danbury Police Department and have full confidence in their work. I urge residents to rely on trusted and official sources, such as the Danbury Police Department or the City of Danbury, for accurate information rather than social media speculation."
