Danbury Schools Closed Monday Following Boil Water Advisory

DANBURY, CT —Danbury schools are closed Monday following a boil water advisory issued Sunday evening.

The advisory followed a water main break on Hayestown Avenue Sunday, which was resolved Monday before 8 a.m., according to City spokesperson Erin Henry.

The advisory was issued as a "precautionary measure to ensure public safety while repairs are underway and water quality is being tested," Henry said.

Danbury Schools Superintendent Kara Casimiro said in a social media post Sunday night the the Public Schools would work to modify lunch offerings and provide the schools with bottled water in anticipation of opening on Tuesday, "should conditions allow."

Casimiro said the update regarding whether schools would reopen Tuesday would be provided to parents Monday evening.
