How did you come up with the name?
I am a Professional Motivational Speaker and I talk about Body Language. I am also a Kinesiologist and Health and Wellness coach. When all the electricity within the body is flowing properly and one feels terrific they are electrific. It is used as an abbreviation to do an electrification project. Thus it can mean to put light where light has not been before.
Why choose that location? Why start a business in this town?
I have had businesses in Danbury for many years. I had Speech Pathology Associates, The Sunshine Shop and worked at Danbury Hospital and Western CT State U. I have run Electrific Solutions Inc since 1982 and last month moved my coaching office to Olympus Personal Training and Weight Loss Center. When I am in Danbury, I am available for Coaching, Applied Kinesiology and Nutrition services. I am usually traveling and speaking about these topics and, especially, understanding Body Language Inside and Out.
Briefly, what business are you in?
Professional Speaking for Associations and Businesses and Speech and Health and Wellness Coaching.
What's the most difficult moment or challenge you've faced as a business owner?
Learning to do most of the office work recently. I have had assistants most of my life in my businesses and now I am a solopreneur.
Were there any challenges that made you second guess your decision to be an entrepreneur?
No. I have run a business since I was 12 when I had a car wash business for three summers. I love to work and always look forward to the next challenge.
What's been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?
Working as a Health and Wellness Coach and using Applied Kinesiology to see individuals with illnesses become healthier and change their body so they change their lives.
What's the most innovative idea your employees or customers have had that you put into practice?
They have set up forms and routines that I have been able to follow which has saved time and can be updated easily.
How do you deal with difficult customers?
I teach individuals at Corporations and Associations how to get along with difficult customers. When we know the basic four personality behavior styles and how each one is spoken to differently it is not much of a challenge.
How does your business give back or get involved in the community?
We have had students employed under the work study program from high school and West Conn. We have also provided scholarships and stipends at various times. We have sponsored a female driver in the Soap Box Derby.
