Genevive P. Valeri, 89, of Danbury, Passed Away Peacefully

She was a volunteer at Hancock Hall and Filosa Convalescent Center and was also active in the Danbury Senior Citizens Center.

DANBURY, CT — Genevive P. Valeri, 89, of Danbury, CT passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 30, 2016 at Regional Hospice in Danbury with her family at her side. She was the wife of the late S. James Valeri.Born in Danbury to the late George and Mary Zommer Maigis, Genevive attended Danbury Schools. A long time employee with Risdon Manufacturing in Danbury, she retired in 1981.

Genevive enjoyed gardening, sewing and embroidery. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Danbury. A volunteer at Hancock Hall and Filosa Convalescent Center in Danbury, Genevive was also active in the Danbury Senior Citizens Center.Besides her parents, Genevive was predeceased by her brother, John Maigis.Survivors include her sisters: Mary Gillotti of Coverntry, RI and Gloria Keenan and her husband, William, of Danbury. Her dear friends: Madeline Raimundo, Gerald and Carol Daly. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff and volunteer at Regional Hospice and Hone Care of Western CT.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1pm on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016 at St. Joseph Church, Danbury with the Rev. David Franklin, Parochial Vicar, officiating. Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.Friends will be received from 11am-12:30pm on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.Contributions in Genevive's memory may be made to Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western CT, 30 Milestone Dr., Danbury, CT 06810.
