Hundreds Gather in Danbury To Support Charlottesville Victims: Report
One woman was killed and 19 were injured during violent protests in Charlottesville, VA.

DANBURY, CT — Following the violent protests in Charlottesville, VA, that left one person dead and 19 others injured, community members in Danbury gathered to support the victims and condemn white supremacists, reports the News Times. Organized by the Danbury Area Justice Network, over 200 gathered at the Danbury Library to fight against hatred and bigtory.
The Department of Justice is opening a civil rights investigation after a man reported to have Nazi views allegedly drove into a crowd of protesters in Charlottesville Saturday, killing a 32-year-old woman and injuring at least 19 others, the culmination of hours of violent clashes between neo-Nazis, members of the alt-right, white nationalists and counter-protesters at the site of a rally staged to oppose the removal of a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee.
Event organizers said the city must work to prevent similar occurrences from happening in the Hat City.
