DANBURY, CT — A man who was charged with threatening to harm the mayor earlier this year is facing a new charge of interfering with police.

Troy Kennard, 54, was charged Sept. 26 with interfering with officers/resisting, according to Erin Henry, a police spokesperson.

Officers responded to Nabby Road for a report of a suspicious person, Henry said.

When officers approached the individual, identified as Kennard, he became “uncooperative and refused to provide identification,” Henry said.

After repeated requests for him to exit his vehicle, officers removed him and arrested him for interfering, according to Henry.

Kennard is due to be arraigned on the interfering charge on Oct. 7 in Superior Court in Danbury.

Back in June, Kennard was charged with second-degree threatening after police said he threatened Mayor Roberto Alves.

According to police, a man identifying himself as Kennard called the mayor’s office. The caller ranted about homeless shelters, immigrants and his dislike for the mayor, police said.

The caller made threats such as, “I can send my guys; you won’t have a mayor,” and “I don’t care if I go to prison,” and “You’re not gonna have a boss anymore,” court documents show.

Police said they executed a search and seizure warrant at Kennard’s Danbury storage unit and seized multiple firearms and ammunition.

The threatening case is also still pending, with Kennard next due in court on Nov. 5.
