In Memory of United States Army Veteran, Danbury High School Graduate Robert John Sholtes

Mr. Sholtes died on Thursday evening at Western Connecticut Rehabilitation Center.

DANBURY, CT — Robert John Sholtes, age 81 of Danbury died on Thursday evening at Western Connecticut Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Uihlein) Sholtes.

Bob was born March 24, 1935 in Danbury, CT, the son of the late Stephen and Mildred (Chmielewski) Sholtes. After graduating from Danbury High School, he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He married Barbara, the love of his life, and they lived and raised their family in Danbury.

Bob was employed with Hoffman Fuel as an oil burner technician, from which he retired following more than 30 years of service. He was a parishioner of Saint Edward the Confessor Church, New Fairfield. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, from Alaska to Italy. Bob and Barbara spent many memorable times in their cottage in Cape Cod.

Bob was predeceased by his daughter Shari Lee (Sholtes) Chamoures, and brother Stephen Sholtes.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, Bob is survived by his children: Robert Sholtes and his wife Maryan of Bethel, Greg Sholtes and his wife Chrissy of Bethel, and John Chamoures of New Fairfield. Bob had 4 grandchildren: Jacquelyn, Jessica, Kevin, and Heather, his Sister Rosemary Sheehan of Danbury, and one sister in law: Lynda Manz of Homosassa, Florida as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at St. Edward Church, New Fairfield. Burial followed in Mt. View Cemetery, New Fairfield.
