Detectives with the police department's Special Victims Unit filed for a warrant for her arrest on July 13. Citing court documents, the News Times reports Castillo told police she gave birth alone in a bathroom and left the baby behind the store after realizing she couldn't care for him in a "spur-of-the moment" decision.
The state's safe haven law allows new mothers to drop off babies less than 30 days old to any hospital, no questions asked.
