Obituary: Edward E. DeLisle, 69, Of Danbury

He also received "Medal of Bravery" award after saving a civilian from a flaming car wreck.

Edward E. DeLisle, Jr., age 69, of Danbury, Conn., died on Tuesday, October 24 at 10:00 a.m. Ed was born in Danbury, Conn., on January 10, 1948, to Edward E. DeLisle Sr. and Evelyn DeLisle.

For the past 48 years, he was the husband of his best friend and the love of his life Barbara (Resner) DeLisle.Ed is survived by his wife, his three sons Edward T. DeLisle of Philadelphia, PA, Christopher K. DeLisle and his wife Sayuri of Trumbull, Conn., and Michael J. DeLisle of Oakland, Cali. Ed's mother, Evelyn DeLisle, resides in Danbury, Conn., and his brother, Thomas J. DeLisle and his wife Rosemary reside in Orange, Conn. Ed leaves behind five grandchildren: Ava DeLisle, Tucker DeLisle, Natalie DeLisle, Reed DeLisle, and Charlie DeLisle. Ed loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren.

Ed lived in the city of Danbury his entire life. He graduated from Henry Abbot Technical School and received an Associates Degree in Police Science from Norwalk Community College. In 1969, Ed was hired as a police officer in the town of Ridgefield, Conn. During his years of service, he received the police department's "Officer of the Year Award". Ed was very involved in the Ridgefield Patrolmen's Benevolent Association (P.B.A.). He was a four-time recipient of the "P.B.A. Police Officer of the Year Award". Ed was also a past president of the police union. He completed 25 years with the department and retired as a Sergeant.

In 1995, Ed was hired as a full-time police officer with the New Milford Police Department. He was frequently recognized by M.A.D.D. for his efforts in apprehending D.W.I. violators and received a "Meritorious Service Award" from the department. He also received "Medal of Bravery" award after saving a civilian from a flaming car wreck.

Family and friends are encouraged to call to Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, CT on Monday October 30, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A memorial service will take place at Green Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. immediately following visitation. Interment will follow at Saint Peter Cemetery, Lake Avenue Extension, Danbury, CT 06810.In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ed can be made to the Brain Metastasis Research Fund, at the Yale Cancer Center.
