Police Crackdown on Texting/Talking while Driving

Be on the lookout this weekend for police who are in the middle of a region-wide crackdown on distracted driving.

Police chiefs who met in Danbury Thursday said they would have officers watching from overpasses, from the side of the road and while driving for anyone who is driving while distracted.

This effort will include people who are driving distracted in Danbury, Ridgefield, Newtown, Monroe, Bethel,  and Brookfield. The Connecticut State Police will be checking on state highways. The program is sponsored by a $275,000 grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
