The Independent Party of Connecticut held their statewide convention on August 18, 2024 and announced the endorsement on Friday. Officials from the party say they represent people who think for themselves and wish to advance the welfare and well-being of Connecticut residents through common sense governance both statewide and at the local, municipality level.
“I was honored to receive the cross-endorsement of the Independent Party of Connecticut, which I also received when I ran for my first term in 2022,” said Chaleski. “I’ve always felt my values align to those of the Independent Party, putting people over politics with the ability to act and think independently, which has earned the trust of my constituents and colleagues across party affiliations. I believe my work and voting record at both local and state levels reflect those values, oftentimes ‘going against the grain’ in order to act in the best interests of those I have the privilege to represent.”

Chaleski initially ran for office on the local Board of Education in Danbury back in 2017 because she often felt parents were left out of the conversation and there was a need for more transparency within the governing body that was supposed to be representative of the people.
“During my five years on the school board, I worked to strengthen communications among our schools and families. That same motivation was behind my decision to run for State Representative. I have worked to keep constituents engaged and informed through email updates, web posts, Facebook updates, and in-person coffee hours, while also being present and accessible within the community.”
Chaleski also called for a return to civility.
“As we head closer to Election Day, it's my hope that we can have an open dialogue between neighbors and turn down the rhetoric. At a time when both sides of the aisle, at all political levels, were condemning the assassination attempt of former President Trump, it's extremely unfortunate and inappropriate that my opponent, a former and returning candidate for state office, would publicly mock the incident,” said Chaleski. “We as elected officials have an obligation to be role models and mark a return to civil discourse. We can disagree politically, without viciousness. Ideological differences have always existed, but the tone of these differences has changed.”
All candidates seeking the backing of the Independent Party of Connecticut agreed to support free and fair elections and the rule of law, and reject the actions on January 6th, 2021 that attempted to prevent the peaceful transfer of power for the first time in the history of the United States.
