Renovations To Danbury ShopRite Now Underway

Renovation began this week on the Danbury ShopRite located at 1 Padanaram Road.

DANBURY, CT — Renovation began this week on the Danbury ShopRite located at 1 Padanaram Road.

Construction is expected to conclude by late spring of this year. The store will remain open during the renovation, with most work taking place overnight to minimize customer inconvenience, according to a spokesperson from owner Cingari Family Markets. A grand re-opening celebration will be planned upon the project’s completion.

The ShopRite of Danbury renovation is part of Cingari Family Markets' broader initiative to update and enhance its stores across southwestern Connecticut. The company unveiled the upgrades at its Brookfield location at 143 Federal Road in December.

  • Upgraded departments for produce, bakery, seafood, deli, meat, dairy, and frozen goods
  • An expanded lineup of Cingari Family Markets’ private label prepared entrées and sides.

ShopRite is the registered trademark of Wakefern, a New Jersey-based retailer-owned cooperative, and the largest supermarket cooperative in the United States, with nearly 280 ShopRite supermarkets located throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland. Cingari Family Markets joined the ShopRite cooperative in 1991, after operating for nearly 60 years as Grade A Markets.

The Padanaram Road site is one of 10 ShopRite locations the family owns in the state, and Cingari said he has plans to remodel all of them, as well as expand their product line. The Stamford-based family business has been stocking shelves since 1929 and also owns and operates two more stores, under the Grade A Market brand, in southwestern Connecticut.
