Reported Kidnapping Involved 6 Suspects, 3 Officers Hurt: Danbury PD

DANBURY, CT — On Sunday at 5:40 p.m. police responded to the area of Clapboard Ridge Road near Dogwood Lane for a disturbance.

"Upon arrival, a witness stated that three males exited a van, began assaulting another man, pushed him into the van, and fled," police said in a statement. "Officers spotted the suspect vehicle on Clapboard Ridge road, attempted to stop it, but the driver sped away. The suspect vehicle was located a short distance away on Cowperthwaite Street. Officers found two victims inside the van, both were bound with duct tape and one had been assaulted with a baseball bat. Both were transported to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the injuries do not appear to be life threatening."

Witnesses said six suspects left the Cowperthwaite Street area on foot, police said. Patrol officers found four of the suspects and they were taken into custody. Three officers suffered non-life threatening injuries during the search and apprehensions, police said. Further investigation led to the apprehension of the other two suspects at a short-term rental home in Roxbury, police said.

Six suspects are facing several charges including first-degree assault, first-degree kidnapping and reckless endangerment. All six suspects are residents of Florida.

"It appears that the victims were specifically targeted but the exact motive is not known at this time," police said.
