Richter Arts Poetry Program Features Charlie Chase
An open mic time will be held following the program featuring Connecticut poet Charlie Chase.

DANBURY, CT - On Sunday, October 16, Richter Arts hosts an interactive poetry program, featuring poet Charlie Chase, at Richter House, 100 Aunt Hack Rd., Danbury . The event begins at 3 p.m. Visitors are invited to read their original work on a first-come, first-served basis after the 45 minute scheduled program. Sign-ups start at 2:45. Each reader will have 3-5 minutes of Open Mic time.
Mr. Chase has been active in the Connecticut poetry scene for many years as an event organizer and member of several poetry groups. A former president of the Middletown chapter of the Connecticut Poetry Society, Charlie helped bring Poetry Slams to Connecticut in 1993, setting up more than a dozen venues across the state and competing as a member of Connecticut's first Slam Poetry team at the International Poetry Slam finals in San Francisco. With Faith Vicinanza, he edited an anthology of CT Slam Poetry, Jam the Slam (Singular Speech Press). His poems have appeared in journals and anthologies, won poetry competitions, and been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. His publications include Little Book Poems and Other Things from the Connecticut Shore (Hanover Press), Folded Gallery #2 (Folded Gallery), Runway Lights: Life in the Undercloud, and Runway Lights: Calling Home. The third book in the Runway Lights series, Runway Lights: The Unknown and Forgotten, is slated for publication in the early fall.

Charlie is currently president of the Norwich Arts Center and runs their open mic program.
