Saturday's Fatal Crash Driver Has Reckless Driving, Unreasonably Fast Pending Cases

Robert Stevenson, the driver in the fatal mall crash Saturday, has two cases pending in Danbury Superior Court involving high-speed driving.

Police said Stevenson was driving at a "high rate of speed" when he lost control of his 1995 Honda Civic Saturday at the Danbury Fair mall. His passenger, Davon Lasane, 21, of Highland Avenue, died in the crash.

According to the Connecticut Judicial Department, Stevenson was charged on May 3 with reckless driving, disobeying the signal of an officer, and nine other charges. Stevenson has not yet been charged in Saturday's crash.

On Aug. 31, 2012, Stevenson was charged with traveling unreasonably fast, and driving without a license. That case is due to appear in Danbury Superior Court on June 7.
