Owner Tony Di Preta is hosting a change of season sale at Ridgefield Sport Shop, 86 Danbury Road. Sports equipment is 30 percent off, and the clothing is 50 percent off.
Di Preta grew up in a soccer family that loved the sport since his great-grandfather played for the Italian army in Somalia in 1896.
"I started this business in 1987 with $385 and a credit card," Di Preta said. Today inventory fills the shop from floor to ceiling. "We've got five generations of soccer players in my family."
Di Preta offers personal soccer coaching, and nowadays what students want to know is "Latin" style soccer.
Di Preta said when he opened the shop in 1987, it was 100 percent soccer equipment and clothing. Today, it's about 60 percent soccer and 40 percent lacrosse.
