Teens Stole Car From Danbury: Newtown Police

The two teenagers are accused of stealing cars in the area, according to Newtown Police.

NEWTOWN, CT — Officers arrested two teenage boys for stealing and breaking into cars in Bethel, Danbury and Newtown Monday morning, Newtown police announced. Police said they found the two teenage boys after they fled on foot when police arrived at a Sleepy Hollow residence.

Danbury police reported to Newtown police that they had found a stolen Audi from Baldwin Road in Newtown which was involved in a crash in Danbury at 2:30 a.m. Monday. The suspects abandoned the Audi and stole a Honda Civic, which was parked in the area.

A Sleepy Hollow Road resident then called police, and the suspects ran into the woods. Police said an officer tried to approach a Cadillac Escalade, when the suspects spun the vehicle out and fled into the woods.

Area departments and state police from Troop A in Southbury searched the area, and Newtown police found two of the suspects a few hours later. One of the male suspects was found hidden in an unlocked vehicle, and the other was found walking on School House Hill Road.

Police said one of the suspects had numerous stolen items from cars in Bethel.

The teenagers were released to their parents and face multiple charges including Larceny in the second degree, Larceny in the third degree, Burglary in the third degree and Larceny in the fifth degree.
