Musician Who Wrote Song for Missing Danbury-Sherman Woman Mary Badaracco Died in Head-On Crash
A 36-year-old Bridgewater woman, Jessie Mayer, was killed Saturday after her car was hit by a 23-year-old New Milford man's Dodge Durango.
New Milford, CT — A 36-year-old Bridgewater woman was killed in a head-on crash early Saturday morning just after 2 a.m. on Route 67, according to The News Times.
Jessie Mayer, 36, was hit head-on by Donald Mcguinness, 23, of New Milford, after his Dodge Durango crossed the double yellow lines, crashing into Mayer's Volkswagon Jetta, the newspaper reported.
Mayer was the daughter of beloved children's author Mercer Mayer, creator of the of the "Little Critter" books, of the "Little Critter" books series. According to MyStage.com, a website designed for artists to share their music online, Jessie was a singer/songwriter.

"When I play my music it is an invitation into my soul. I am a musical alchemist and with these songs I change, grow, heal. My wish is that these songs help you to do so as well," she wrote on her profile page.
Jessie heard about the case of a woman missing since 1984 and wrote a hauntingly beautiful song for the family of Mary Badaracco, formerly of Danbury, last seen at her Sherman home in August of 1984. In it she sings:

"There's a candle burning bright, holding for justice and resolve tonight....1984 and still there's no door to close, daughters left behind and grandchildren who don't know her smile anymore. When will Mary rest in our hearts? And who will take away all of this dark?"
The family sold the single for $5 to help raise funds to find their mother. To this day the Sherman woman is still missing.
Jessie Mayer was well-known in the community where she performed open mic nights. She leaves behind her daughter, two brothers, her mother Jo Mayer and her father Mercer Mayer.
