WestConn’s May 1 Hispanic Community Celebración Open To Public
Western Connecticut State University will host a Hispanic Community Celebration on Thursday, May 1.

DANBURY, CT — Western Connecticut State University will host a Hispanic Community Celebration on Thursday, May 1, to mark its designation as a Hispanic-Serving Institution. The event will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. on the Berkshire Hall Lawn at the university’s Midtown campus, located at 181 White St. in Danbury.
The celebration is free and open to the public. In the event of rain, activities will move to the Midtown Student Center. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP online here.
The program will feature performances by Matica Arts, Trio Los Pájaros and Movimiento Cultural Afro-Continental. A student poetry reading is also scheduled. During the celebration, the annual Lobo Awards Ceremony will recognize contributions to the Hispanic community by a student, faculty or staff member, and an alum.

Food will be provided by Sodexo dining services, including an aguas frescas station, tortilla and plantain chips with assorted dips, grilled chicken asada, jasmine rice, garden salad, and a churro dessert station. All food will be available at no cost to attendees.
