Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Inland Southern Connecticut

On Sunday, the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for inland southern Connecticut. Here is what you can expect.

INLAND SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — A winter weather advisory has been issued for interior sections of southern Connecticut from 1 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday. A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for northern sections of New London County.


Fairfield/New Haven County:

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday. "Mixed precipitation expected. Ice accumulations around a light glaze to several hundredths. Total snow accumulations under one inch....Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.

Middlesex County:

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday. "Mixed precipitation expected. Ice accumulations around a light glaze....Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute."

New London County:

"Spotty light freezing rain is possible early Monday morning which could create slick travel conditions," the National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather outlook."


Additional forecast details:

Today: Increasing clouds, with a high near 36. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. Light northeast wind.

Tonight: A chance of snow between 1am and 4am, then freezing rain likely, possibly mixed with snow. Cloudy, with a low around 27. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday: Freezing rain likely before 10am, then rain or freezing rain likely between 10am and 11am, then rain likely after 11am. Patchy fog after 1pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 42. Southeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no ice accumulation expected.

Monday Night: Rain. Patchy fog before 9pm. Temperature rising to around 46 by 3am. South wind 6 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
