Coronavirus Positivity Rate In Darien Still Over 16%
Statewide, there were 3,407 coronavirus cases reported in the past week, according to the Department of Public Health.
DARIEN, CT — The number of COVID-19 cases in the state continue to trend downward, three weeks after the state hit the grim milestone of 11,000 coronavirus-associated deaths. In Darien and much of southwestern Connecticut, however, the case rate remains stubborn.
Statewide, there were still 3,407 coronavirus cases reported in the past week, according to the Department of Public Health. Twenty of those were in Darien.
Connecticut's coronavirus death total now stands at 11,055, according to state data, the toll rising by 10 over the past seven days. In Darien, 13 residents have died of coronavirus-associated illness since the start of the pandemic.

There were 264 patients hospitalized with the virus Thursday, or 29 more than last week. A little over 35 percent of the hospitalized were not fully vaccinated, according to the DPH.
The coronavirus positivity rate statewide climbed over a quarter-point, from 9.25 percent last week to 10.64 percent reported Thursday. The positivity rate in Darien is trending higher, reported as 16.13 percent over the past seven days.
