Darien Top High School Hockey Team in State: Newspaper Poll
The high school hockey team, which won the state Division 1 title against Greenwich on Sunday, was named best in the state in the poll.

A New Haven Register/Gametime poll of sports journalists and coaches has named Darien High School’s hockey team the best in the state.
The website (owned by the same company as the newspaper) ranked 10 high school hockey teams and pubished the poll on Wednesday. The No. 1 ranking was a unanimous vote of the 17 coaches and journalists polled, according to the Register. The Gametime website reported that Darien coach Chris Gerwig said the poll was “an honor.”
Darien won the Connecticut Division 1 on Saturday, 1-0 over Greenwich . The team ended its season 23-2-1.
