BRUSH FIRE: The Darien Fire Department was called to the scene of a burning pile of wood chips outside Whole Foods (150 Ledge Rd.) around 2:20. Fire Marshal Bob Buch said the small blaze was caused by a "carelessly discarded cigarette." The wood chips are right next to a catch basin, Buch added, and someone likely tossed a cigarette without realizing it had missed the mark.
