In a trip through Fairfield County Tuesday that included stops to a number of tourist attractions in the immediate region, Governor Dannel P. Malloy made time to stop off at the newly renovated Connecticut Welcome Center in Darien off I-95 North.
Malloy shook hands with ecstatic employees, sampled just about every kind of food available and toured the new facility with a number of Connecticut tourism representatives.
"We're happy because we have out tourism center reopened," Malloy said. "This is a number one spot for tourist coming through the state, this is the entrance point."
Malloy praised the knowledgeable Connecticut tourism staff on-hand at the location as being the gatekeepers for the state's out-of-own visitors, helping travelers find attractions, lodging and any number of other things related to traveling all across the state.
"I think this is a much better face for the state," he said. "It's a welcoming place... I don't think you could overstate the significance of getting this thing up and running successfully."
