Police Blotter: Security Camera Stolen

A glass door at the Noroton Heights station was also found shattered Sunday morning.

LARCENY: A security camera valued at $375 was reported stolen from a residence on Lighthouse Way. The homeowner reportedly installed the device along with a motion sensor in early November. He told police he discovered on Dec. 15 that it had been forcibly removed from its bracket.

Thursday, Dec. 16

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE: Thomas Walsh, 46, of Norwalk was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to maintain a proper lane during an early morning a traffic stop. Around 12:20 a.m., police spotted Walsh's 2006 Toyota Tundra driving west on Post Road. When he entered I-95 south at exit 13, Walsh reportedly failed to grant right of way to another driver, forcing the other vehicle to swerve away and "nearly caus[ing] an accident." His truck was stopped near exit 10, where police reported a strong odor of alcoholic beverage as they interviewed him. Walsh was arrested after failing field sobriety tests. He posted a $250 bond and is set to appear in court Dec. 27.

Friday, Dec. 17

MOTOR VEHICLE BURGLARY: A 1998 Toyota RAV4 was reported burglarized while parked in the eastbound lot of the Noroton Heights railroad station. The owner parked the SUV around 6:45 a.m. and returned at 8 p.m. to find the front passenger window shattered. A Garman GPS unit valued at $150 and a hands-free phone system valued at $50 were taken from the vehicle.

DUI CHECKPOINT: A DUI checkpoint run by Stamford and Darien police resulted in 1 misdemeanor charge 9 infractions being issued. One man was also charged with a DUI and taken into custody by Stamford officers. The checkpoint was held between 9 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday on Post Road near the Norwalk border.

Sunday, Dec. 19

VANDALISM: A glass door at the Noroton Heights railroad station was discovered shattered by the concession manager around 7:45 a.m. He had visited the station at 5 a.m. but returned several hours later to discover a newspaper dispenser leaning against the door. "Obviously someone had thrown it," said Darien Police Capt. Fred Komm. The damage was estimated at $350.
