Registration Opens For 45th Annual Darien Road Race And Family Fun Day
Proceeds from the event support The Community Fund's annual grant-making efforts.
DARIEN, CT — Registration is now open for the 45th annual Darien Road Race & Family Fun Day, a long-standing community fundraiser organized by The Community Fund of Darien. The event will take place Sunday, Sept. 21 at Pear Tree Point Beach.
Proceeds from the event support The Community Fund’s annual grant-making efforts, which this year distributed $790,000 to more than 35 nonprofit organizations across Darien, Stamford and Norwalk. The grants fund a range of essential services, including food assistance, housing, education, mental and physical healthcare, youth and senior programs, and job training.
The event typically draws more than 450 participants and offers two race options: a 1.5-mile Family Fun Run at 9 a.m. and a timed five-mile race beginning at 9:30 a.m. Both courses follow scenic routes along Darien’s shoreline. Children under age 6 may participate in the race free of charge.
