William Slinsky, 72, Transit Supervisor, Special Police Officer, Business Owner

He was also a movie extra, appearing in "The Stepford Wives," "Scenes from a Mall" and "Everybody's Fine."

William J. Slinsky, Sr., a resident of Darien since 1965, passed away on Sunday, March 8 in Darien. Born on June 28, 1942 in Stamford, he was the son of the late Martin and Viola (Toth) Slinsky. He was 72.

William is survived by son, Richard Slinsky (Katherine) of Darien; daughter-in-law Lisa Slinsky of Waterbury; two grandsons, Alan (Liz) and great grandchildren Pippa & Annika; Zachary Slinsky; his brothers Gary Slinsky of Darien and Paul Slinsky of Stamford; four nephews and two nieces. He was predeceased by his parents; wife Elizabeth A. Slinsky and son, William J. Slinsky, Jr.

William had a great love of buses and transportation. He worked for the Connecticut Company and CT Transit where he was a supervisor for 20 years. He was a special Darien Police officer.

William owned a messenger business and was the proud owner of Stamford AutoMart and A Tin-Lizzy car rentals for 15 years. He served as a deputy Sheriff for Fairfield County and Constable for the Town of Darien. Most recently, William was employed by J& R Tours where he was a driver and administrative office worker.

William also enjoyed the love of antique cars and trains/railroading. William was a movie extra in The original 1975 “The Stepford Wives” as a Policeman filmed in the Goodwives Shopping Center, “Scenes from a Mall” (1991) a Woody Allen film with his beloved 1957 Ford Thunderbird and more recently the 2009 movie “Everybody’s Fine” in which he had a scene with Robert De Niro.
