2 Seriously Injured In Durham Head-On Crash

Two people were hospitalized following a four-car accident in Durham on Thursday afternoon, according to state police.

DURHAM, CT β€” Two people were seriously injured in a Durham head-on crash that involved four cars. The accident was reported at 1:40 p.m. Thursday, according to state police.

A Subaru Outback was traveling west on Route 68 (Wallingford Road) approaching Greenbacker Farm. A Honda Civic EX attempted to pass in a no-passing zone.

The Civic struck a Chevrolet Malibu traveling eastbound head on. A Toyota Camry driving behind the Malibu was also hit by the Civic.

The Civic spun into the westbound lane, coming to an uncontrolled final rest. The Outback was also hit in the left rear quarter panel by the Civic.

The drivers of the Civic and the Malibu suffered serious injuries and were transported by Middlesex EMS to Hartford Hospital. The two people seriously injured are from Middletown and Middlefield, according to state police.

The road was closed for several hours following the crash but has since reopened, according to NBC CT.
