
The Coginchaug 12-year-old All-Star team defeated Old Saybrook 13-3 in four innings on Sunday afternoon in Guilford to advance to the semi-final game of the District 9 tournament.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, Coginchaug rallied for six runs in the second inning, capped off by a 2-run single off the bat of left fielder Connor Rulnick.

The team added three more runs in the third inning and five in the fourth inning to win by mercy-rule for the second straight game. Coginchaug has outscored its opponents 53-8 in the last five games (5-0).
John John Jose (6) and James Salemme (4) combined to strike out ten Old Saybrook batters in four innings.

Coginchaug will play Cromwell on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in Haddam. The winner will face the Haddam/Guilford winner in the District 9 Championship Series, best 2-of-3 beginning Friday.
