Daily Five: BOE Begins Budget Talks Tonight
Five things to know for Wednesday, March 6, 2013.

1. What's the Weather? Snow likely, mainly after 3 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 42. Tonight: Snow. Low around 31. Blustery, with a north wind 20 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. Snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
2. BOE Begins Budget Talks The District 13 Board of Education will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Strong School. The BOE will review the $35.58 million budget proposed by Superintendent Susan Viccaro last month. The meeting is open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.

Tonight's meeting is the first of four budget review meetings scheduled this month. The other dates are: March 13, 20 and 27. A public hearing on the budget will be held on April 10.

3. Passport Day Cancelled in Durham "Passport Day in the USA" has been cancelled due to the sequestration. The Town of Durham had planned to open Town Hall on Saturday to help process passport applications, but the event has been cancelled.

5. Middlefield Federated Church Wants Your STUFF Get rid of your stuff, support your church, and provide for those in need! MFC is hosting a bulk collection on March 9. Please have all items at the church by Friday, March 8.

household items (pillows, sheets, blankets, curtains, etc.)
