Daily Five: Hazardous Waste, Old Home Days Cowbells and Hunger Awareness Banquet

Five things to know for Friday, April 5, 2013.

1. What's the Weather? Rain likely, mainly before 1 p.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 56. Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 28. Wind gusts as high as 25 mph

2. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Durham and Middlefield residents can dispose of household hazardous waste on April 20 at the Clinton Public Works Garage located at 117 Nod Road, Clinton.

3. More Cowbell As Will Ferrell hilariously pointed out in the now-iconic Saturday Night Live skit, we need more cowbell. In light of that, organizers are selling customized cowbells for Old Home Days. The cost is $10 per cowbell, which were manufactured by Bevin Bros Bells in East Hampton. There is a limited supply available. If you're interested in purchasing one, please contact Carol Schilling via email at carolsschilling@yahoo.com or phone 860-346-5081. The cowbells will be available at area businesses shortly.

4. Hunger Awareness Banquet Tonight ECO, Coginchaug Regional High School's environmental club, is hosting their annual Hunger Awareness Banquet tonight. More details here.

5. Meatloaf Supper The United Churches of Durham hosts a meatloaf supper on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Fellowship Hall. The menu includes meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, salad, corn and cupcakes. Musical entertainment too! Open to the public. A fee is charged.
