Daily Five: Public Hearing Tonight On School Budget
Five things to know for Wednesday, April 10, 2013.

1. What's the Weather? Scattered showers, mainly after 4 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. Tonight: Showers before midnight, then rain or drizzle likely, mainly between midnight and 2 a.m. Low around 51.
2. School Budget Public Hearing Tonight The Board of Education will hold a public hearing at 8 p.m. at Coginchaug High School on the 2013-2014 proposed school budget. Last month, the board reduced the original proposal by $715,851 to a $34.87 million total school budget. The board will seek input from Durham and Middlefield residents this evening before sending the proposal to a town meeting next month.

4. Coginchaug Little League Concession Stand Open House Parents of little leaguers are invited to attend an Open House this Thursday, from 5-7 p.m. to learn about CLL's concession stand. Parents will receive instruction on how to operate all of the equipment. Come for 5 minutes or 30 minutes. Your kids can run the bases while you learn the ropes. Remember if every family works only one shift, we can fill every shift for the entire season!
5. Boating Safety Classes The Middlefield Park and Rec Department is hosting
Boating Safety Classes on April 11, 16, 18 (Tuesday and Thursday Nights) from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Middlefield Community Center. Cost - Adults 18+ $20 Children 10 - 17 $10. Must have a "conservation number" and bring it to first class. (This is your ID # found on a fishing or hunting license.
