DART Helps Rescue Horse in Durham

Durham's Animal Response Team (DART) assisted with the rescue of a horse in Durham on Thursday.

Members of the volunteer organization were called to a farm on Tuttle Road Thursday morning where a rescued Belgian draft horse named "Bruno" was having difficulty getting back on his feet.

"He'd probably been down half of the night," DART member Sue White told Patch. "As far as I know there wasn't any medical issue, he was just old and tired."

Officials from the Connecticut Horse Cremation and Dr. Stacey Golub, an equine veterinarian and owner of Connecticut Draft Horse Rescue also helped with the rescue.

White said a specialized lift was used to get Bruno back to his feet and that he appeared to be doing okay.

In January, DART members assisted in a similar rescue at a farm on Mica Hill Road.
