Durham BOE Candidate: Dr. Victor Friedrich
The following information was provided to Patch ahead of Monday night's annual town budget meeting, at which two residents will be elected to the Regional School District 13 Board of Education.
Candidate: Dr. Victor Friedrich
Victor’s experience: He is a semi- retired Associate Professor of Neuroscience at Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC. He has many years of teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has experience working within the framework of committees by building consensus, fostering collaboration and setting goals. His administration experience spans leading medical research projects, obtaining and accounting for funding of projects. He has a thorough understanding of the academic skills needed by our high school graduates to succeed academically at the college level.
Who is Victor? He moved to Durham two years ago with his wife, Karen Otte, a Durham native! They live in the same house where Karen grew up. They have been members of the Church of the Epiphany for 20 years.Victor would like to serve on the BOE because he feels he owes a tremendousdebt to the wonderful teachers he had in the past. He wants to repay this debt by helping our school district give our children the best education possible.
