Durham Firefighters Mourning Loss of Friend and Firefighter

Ed Goetz was a highly respected colleague who passed away recently.

The Durham Volunteer Fire Company shared a touching tribute to a friend, as they mourn the loss and honor his life.

"The Durham Volunteer Fire Company is grieving the loss of a great friend, Chaplin, instructor, model firefighter and highly respected colleague, Ed Goetz," firefighters wrote. "You would be hard pressed to find a fire service β€” volunteer or career β€” throughout the state of Connecticut that has not had the honor of working and interacting with Ed in some capacity during his fire career.

Our most sincere sympathies go out to his wife, Cathy, whom we admire and regard just as highly. May the support of your extended fire family carry you through this sad time.

Per Ed's wishes, all arrangements will be private.

'When a man looks for something beyond his reach, his friends say he is looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.'

May peace be at your reach now, friend, rest easy."
