Durham Man Threatened Delivery Driver With Axe: State Police

A Durham man is facing charges that he threatened a delivery driver with an axe, according to state police.

DURHAM, CT β€” A Durham man faces charges that he threatened a delivery driver with an axe, according to state police. State police were dispatched Saturday at 5:56 p.m. in response to a call reporting a disturbance between a resident and a delivery driver attempting to drop off packages at 36 Commerce Circle.

Troopers met with the delivery driver at a nearby location. The driver said he had been attempting to make a delivery at Unit D that required that he confirm the recipient's identity.

The delivery driver said the resident showed his Social Security card, and the delivery driver asked that he show photo ID. The resident then went inside and allegedly returned carrying an axe, according to state police.

The delivery driver told state police that the resident then told him to leave the packages while still holding the axe.

No injuries were reported.

The resident did not cooperate with investigators and was taken into custody, according to state police. He was charged with second-degree breach of peace and second-degree threatening.
