Durham Residents Unanimously Approve Right to Farm Ordinance
Ordinance allows Durham to maintain farmland and promote agriculture with minimal conflict, Agricultural Commission chairman says.
About 45 residents showed up at Durham Town Hall Monday night to support a Right to Farm ordinance.
The ordinance, drafted by the town's Agricultural Commission, won unanimous support after first being proposed ten months ago.

"We're very pleased that the town voted in favor of the ordinance," said commission chairman Warren Herzig.
"We did take into account a lot of the comments and I think we tried to address that and with the help of the Board of Selectmen and the town attorney I think we came up with a final product that serves everyone," he said.

Herzig said the ordinance, which can be found on the town's website, will serve as a policy statement to encourage and promote agriculture in the town for years to come.
