Exclusive Showing of 'Screenagers' to Take Place in Durham-Middlefield Region

The film probes corners of family life and depicts messy struggles surrounding social media, video games, academics and internet addiction

From Durham-Middlefield Local Wellness Coalition: Betsy Dean, Chair of the Durham-Middlefield Local Wellness Coalition, has invited the communities of Durham and Middlefield to a public screening and discussion of SCREENAGERS: Growing Up in the Digital Age. The event will take place at the Middlefield Community Center at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016.

SCREENAGERS is an entertaining, informative documentary made by Dr. Delaney Ruston, MD, pediatrician, award-winning filmmaker, and mother. It probes into the vulnerable corners of family life and depicts messy struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through surprising insights from parents, educators, brain scientists, and the teens themselves, solutions emerge on how we can empower kids to best navigate the digital world.

Melinda Gates, wife of Bill Gates, is enthusiastic about the film. "As the mother of three kids, I’ve noticed that whenever I get together with other parents, the conversation ends up turning to our kids’ screen time. We’re all worried about how much is too much. For any of you wrestling with this issue, I loved the documentary Screenagers. It combines smart insights and practical tips for raising happy, healthy, technologically-empowered teens."
