Fire Causes Extensive Damage To Middlefield Commercial Garage

The fire broke out Thursday evening.

MIDDLEFIELD, CT β€” A fire caused extensive damage to a commercial garage Thursday evening, according to the Middlefield Volunteer Fire Company. The blaze was reported at 270 Main St. shortly before 5:30 p.m.

The first arriving officer found a commercial vehicle on fire inside of a garage with fire extending to the structure.

The first fire engine "arrived on scene quickly and was able to quickly knock down the fire, preventing further damage to the structure and additional vehicles inside the building," according to the fire company's Facebook post.

"Early notification and a fast fire attack prevent the fire from getting worse, however there was still extensive damage, but luckily no civilians or firefighters were hurt."

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Middlefield Fire Marshals Office.
