Middlefield's fire marshal said Thursday that the cause of a house fire that destroyed a garage at a home on Cherry Hill Road last weekend was undetermined.
Stanley Atwell said the fire may have been sparked by one of two vehicles parked in the garage but fire officials could not determine for sure.
The blaze on July 21 ripped through the two-car garage on 329 Cherry Hill Road. The fire caused extensive smoke damage to the rest of the home, Atwell said.
The state fire marshal's office and a dozen fire chiefs from nearby communities assisted in the investigation, he said.
No one was injured in the fire.
