'Iconic' Durham Farm Property Hits The Market For $5 Million

Greenbacker's Brookfield Farm has more than 100 years of history.

DURHAM, CT — Greenbacker’s Brookfield Farm in Durham, a property with more than 100 years of history, is for sale in the first time in nearly 40 years, according to William Pitt. The asking price is $4,999,000.

The farm has been owned and operated by the Greenbacker family since 1983. They hosted a thriving dairy farm here and built a modern dairy barn, horse barn and arena. The dairy herd was sold in 2018, and today the farm focuses on vegetable cropland, field corn production and growing hay, with pastures rented to other farmers and horses boarded for additional income.

The property is protected from development as the development rights were sold to the State of Connecticut in 1979.
